Tip to Build And Boost Self-esteem: Be selective about the company you keep!

“Be mindful of how our friends are influencing us. Do they support our positive change and growth? Or are they always being negative and putting us down? Be aware of what we let into our hearts via our senses of seeing and hearing.”

Repel the thought, for if you don’t, it becomes an idea. So repel the idea, for if you don’t it will become a desire. So fight against that (desire), for if you don’t, it will become a determination and a passion. And if you don’t repel that, it will become an action. And if you don’t replace it with it’s opposite, it will become a constant habit. So at that point, it will be difficult for you to change it.

Prove that you are Muslim to Allah, not others, the whole idea of “proving your muslimhood” is between you and your creator

destinationjannah:

The Prophet (sws) “The dua of the slave is answered as long as he does not ask for a sin, or seek anything that will result in the cutting of family relations, and as long as he does not rush things” The Prophet was asked how could you rush things?” The Prophet replied when you say “I asked and I asked and I do not see any response” then he will start to loose hope and stop making dua’”. (Sahih Muslim)

Sometimes we may make du’a for something and the exact opposite may happen. & This can be a test to see if we’re gonna stop making the du’a or regardless of what is happening, keep asking anyway.

Whenever I think about this, I always remember how Prophet Zakariya (as) as mentioned in Surah Maryam, says : “… and never have I been in my supplication to You, my Lord, unhappy." [19:4] He tells Allah while he is making du’a that he has NEVER been unhappy in his supplication to Allah. This man (as) has been asking for a child for his whole life, and at this point where he is mentioned in Surah Maryam, he has reached extremely old age, very very old age. And he has been asking Allah for a long time for a child but subhanAllah when he’s about to make du’a again, what does he say? “I’ve never been unhappy in my du’a to you”. SubhanAllah, for years and years he hasn’t received the answer to his du’a but he doesn’t give up, in fact he doesn’t even show un-satisfaction just a bit, but he tells Allah that he’s never been unhappy in his du’a to Him and keeps going and Allah accepts his prayer.

Such a profound lesson that shows the essence of his tawakkul and trust in Allah and inshAllah we can try and practice this as well. Ya Allah make us persistent in our du’as to you and make us amongst those that never give up, Sufficient are You, Allah, for us.

"It is He who created you from one soul and created from it its mate that he might dwell in security with her. And when he covers her, she carries a light burden and continues therein. And when it becomes heavy, they both invoke Allah , their Lord, “If You should give us a good [child], we will surely be among the grateful.” [7:189]
